Is there anyone else who has trouble printingJohn Mauldin's newsletters?

It used to be fairly simple to click and print, but for months now it's been an incredible wrangle to get the newletters to print out. Mostly I don't succeed.

To start with, there's a "Print Version" selection, but the print version is extremely complicated graphically.  It's almost impossible to print because of the formatting.  Because of the complex formatting, the text+graphs can't be isolated for printing.  If I can succeed in isolating the text from the enormous background graphics, there's no memory left to display the inline graphs needed to understand the text.  The graphs won't load - they just sit there as broken links.

It used to be quite simple to print these newsletters, but now it's not.  Is there any practical reason why printing needs to be so complicated?   I like to print the newsletter to read on my way to the office - it gives me lots to think about.

Many thanks,

JJJ

JJJ,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble.  What browser and version are you running?  I just printed the latest Thoughts From the Frontline article without any formatting issues in the latest versions of IE, Mozilla, Chrome and Safari.  All I did was select the print option from each of the browsers without choosing any special options.

Please report back.

Thanks,

David

Firefox 3.0.4  -  The newsletter prints, but without John Mauldin's graphs.  Hence, the printed version isn't much use.  The online display is OK, but I hate reading technical material online (can't make notes in the margin!)

I used to be able to extract the text & graphs and paste it into Word to get a printout, but I can no longer do this since the graph don't paste with the text.

I've tried all sorts of workarounds, but still can't get a useful printout. This used to be quite a straightforward task, but it's even more complicated than ever!

Any ideas?

Thanks,

JJJ

You and I are using the same version of Mozilla.  I just selected File > Print when viewing this article and all of the charts and graphs print out nicely on my good old HP LaserJet 1200.

Does the page displayed when you select File > Print Preview look the same as when you actually print the article out on paper?
